Frequently Asked Questions
•What is the typical resistance range for a good RTD at different temperatures?
The resistance of the RTD varies with temperature. You can typically find a resistance chart in the oven's service manual or online. At 70 degrees F, expect around 1080 ohms. At higher temperatures, the resistance will increase.
•How do I access the oven control board (MCU) to inspect the wiring connections?
The oven control board is typically located behind the oven control panel. You will need to remove the screws securing the control panel and carefully pull it away from the oven. Be careful not to damage any wiring when removing the panel.
•If the RTD and wiring appear good, is there a way to further test the MCU before replacing it?
Yes, some multimeters have the ability to read hertz (frequency) and may allow you to read signal output from the MCU to the RTD. However, this method requires a scope meter for analyzing the signal. If you are not comfortable reading the frequency signal from the MCU then replacing the MCU would be the best option.
