Frequently Asked Questions
•How do I test the spark module with a multimeter?
With the cooktop unplugged and the gas supply off, set your multimeter to measure AC voltage. Then, carefully reconnect power to the cooktop and turn a burner knob to the ignition position. Probe the output terminals of the spark module (refer to the wiring diagram for location) and measure the voltage. You should see approximately 120V AC intermittently as the module attempts to spark. Be extremely careful not to touch any exposed wires or terminals while testing.
•What is the correct positioning for the burner cap?
The burner cap should sit flush and level on the burner base. Most caps have a specific orientation, often indicated by a small notch or protrusion that aligns with a corresponding feature on the burner base. Make sure the cap is not tilted or cocked to one side.
•How do I replace a spark electrode?
First, disconnect power and gas. Remove the burner grate and cap. Locate the spark electrode, it's typically held in place with a screw or clip. Remove the fastener and carefully pull the electrode straight out. Disconnect the wire connector attached to the electrode. Connect the wire to the new electrode, insert it into its mounting position, and secure it with the screw or clip. Reassemble the burner components.
