Frequently Asked Questions
•How do I test the igniter with a multimeter?
Set your multimeter to the ohms setting (resistance). Disconnect the igniter from the spark module. Place one probe on each terminal of the igniter. A reading between 50-200 ohms typically indicates a good igniter. An open circuit (OL) indicates a faulty igniter.
•Where is the spark module located on my Viking range?
The spark module is usually located at the back of the range, behind the control panel. You may need to remove the back panel to access it. Refer to the service manual for your specific model for the exact location.
•How do I safely check for a gas leak?
Mix a solution of equal parts dish soap and water. Apply the solution to gas connections, such as the gas shut-off valve, gas regulator, and burner connections. If bubbles form, this indicates a gas leak. Immediately turn off the gas supply and contact a qualified technician to repair the leak. Never use a flame to check for gas leaks.
