Frequently Asked Questions
•What should the resistance reading be across the dryer's thermal fuse?
A functional thermal fuse should have a resistance reading close to 0 ohms, indicating continuity. An open thermal fuse will have infinite resistance.
•If the heating element has continuity but the dryer still isn't heating, what else could be the issue?
Even with continuity, the element may have a partial short to ground, reducing its heating capacity. Also check the high-limit thermostat, motor relay on the control board, and incoming voltage (240V AC).
•How do I test the dryer's motor relay?
The motor relay can be tested for continuity when the motor is activated. If there is no continuity, the relay needs to be replaced. Relays are usually located on the control board. You may also hear a clicking sound if the relay is working.
