Frequently Asked Questions
•What is the correct amp rating for the circuit breaker that the dryer should be connected to?
Most dryers require a dedicated 30-amp circuit breaker. Consult the dryer's owner's manual or the electrical specifications label on the dryer for the exact amperage rating.
•How do I properly test the heating element for a short to ground?
Disconnect the power to the dryer. Disconnect the wires connected to the heating element terminals. Set your multimeter to the continuity setting (usually indicated by a diode symbol or a buzzer). Place one probe on a heating element terminal and the other probe on the metal casing of the heating element. If the multimeter shows continuity (a reading close to zero or a buzzing sound), the heating element is shorted to ground and needs to be replaced.
•Where is the terminal block located in my Monogram dryer?
The terminal block is typically located at the rear of the dryer, behind an access panel. It's where the power cord connects to the dryer's internal wiring. Be sure to disconnect the power before accessing the terminal block.
