Frequently Asked Questions
•What is the resistance reading I should expect from a working door switch?
When the door is closed and locked, a working door switch should show near zero ohms (a closed circuit) on a multimeter. When the door is open, it should show infinite resistance (an open circuit).
•Where can I find the wiring diagram for my specific Maytag washer model?
The wiring diagram is often located inside the washer's control panel or sometimes taped to the inside of the cabinet. You can also find it in the service manual for your washer model, usually available online for purchase or download.
•If the door switch tests okay, how do I test the wiring harness to the MCU?
With the washer unplugged, use a multimeter to check the continuity of each wire in the harness between the door switch connector and the MCU connector. Refer to the wiring diagram for the correct pin assignments. Also, check for shorts to ground by measuring the resistance between each wire and the washer chassis. It should be a very high resistance (near infinite).
