Each 90-degree bend in the vent reduces the maximum vent length by 5 feet, and each 45-degree bend reduces it by 2.5 feet. Add these deductions to the straight vent length to get the equivalent length.
•What type of vent material is best for my dryer?
Rigid metal ducting is the best option. It provides the smoothest airflow and is less likely to trap lint compared to flexible foil or plastic ducting. Flexible metal ducting is acceptable for the connection between the dryer and the wall, but keep it as short as possible.
•How do I check the heating element in my electric dryer?
Disconnect the dryer from the power source. Locate the heating element, usually in the back of the dryer. Use a multimeter set to the ohms setting. Place the probes on each terminal of the heating element. A reading of approximately 9-13 ohms indicates a good heating element. An open circuit (infinite resistance) indicates a faulty heating element that needs to be replaced.
