Frequently Asked Questions
•How do I check if the idler pulley is bad?
Spin the idler pulley by hand. If it makes noise, feels rough, or doesn't spin freely, it needs to be replaced.
•What causes a dryer belt to break?
Common causes include excessive use, overloading the dryer, a worn idler pulley or drum rollers causing increased friction, and a clogged vent leading to overheating.
•How tight should the dryer belt be?
The dryer belt should have enough tension to prevent slippage but not so tight that it puts excessive strain on the motor and idler pulley. Typically, you should be able to deflect the belt about 1/2 inch in the middle of its longest run.
