Frequently Asked Questions
•Where is the float switch located in my GE dishwasher?
The float switch is typically located at the bottom of the dishwasher sump, under the filter assembly. It's a small, usually plastic component that floats up when the water level rises too high.
•How do I test the door switch with a multimeter?
Disconnect power to the dishwasher. Remove the door switch. Set your multimeter to the continuity setting. Place the probes on the terminals of the switch. With the switch plunger released, the multimeter should show no continuity (open circuit). When the plunger is depressed (simulating the door closing), the multimeter should show continuity (closed circuit).
•What voltage should I expect to see at the water inlet valve?
With the dishwasher calling for water, you should see 120V AC at the terminals of the water inlet valve. Use a multimeter set to measure AC voltage to check this. Be extremely cautious when working with live voltage.
