•What is the correct amperage rating for the thermal fuse on my Admiral dryer?
The amperage rating should be printed on the thermal fuse itself. Replace it with a fuse of the exact same rating. Using a fuse with a higher rating can create a fire hazard.
•How do I check the dryer vent for blockages?
Disconnect the vent from the back of the dryer and the wall. Use a vent cleaning brush kit to remove lint buildup. A shop vacuum can also help to clear debris. Inspect the vent for kinks or crushing.
•How do I test the heating element for continuity?
Disconnect the dryer from power. Locate the heating element, usually behind the rear panel. Disconnect the wires to the element. Set your multimeter to the ohms setting and place the probes on each terminal of the element. You should see a resistance reading. If the reading is OL or infinite, the element is open and needs replacement. Also check for shorts to ground by placing one probe on a terminal and the other on the dryer chassis. It should read infinite resistance.
